Panhandle Playground
The panhandle playground underwent a major overhaul in November 2019 as part of the Let'sPlaySF! Initiative and is definitely worth a visit now. For parents there is the ultimate stadium seating view of the playground which lets you 1) sit! 2) hang out easily with other parents while 3) keeping a tight eye on your kiddos, a rarity in SF playgrounds.
There's a sandpit that is definitely on the cleaner side, a slide, ropes, swings, and teeter totter. Pandhandle playground is a must visit especially if you find yourself in nearby Koret Children's Quarter in Golden Gate Park or just up the hill in Buena Vista Park.
The wonderful bench seating is dedicated to Konstantinos “Gus” Vardakastanis founder of Gus's Community Markets tragically killed in a hit and run.
