Buena Vista Park
For those seeking a bit of history, Buena Vista Park was the first park of its kind to be established in San Francisco in 1867. The park was initially a barren hill but with the help of Golden Gate Park’s superintendent John McLaren, the park was transformed into the flourishing oasis it is today. The 36-acre park is home to a playground, expansive grassy hills, and winding trails.
While the playground itself is a bit of a throwback with old school metal play equipment, it's in good shape and you just can't argue with those views! It's a great place to take a play break after wandering Buena Vista's many walking paths. Pay particularly close attention to the HUGE variety of trees that have been planted across the past century turning Buena Vista Park into a majestic urban forest.
